Start your career in public service. The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is seeking candidates for the position of Accounting TechnicianSupervisor. This position is located inDublin Laurens County Georgia.

Job Description

This position has designated special entry salary that is nonnegotiable.

Pay Grade: J

Supervises guides and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Oversees accounting and fiscal control functions such as accounts payable and receivable payroll preparation budget monitoring or related processes.

Oversees and performs advancedlevel financial accounting and fiscal control functions Oversees daytoday operations of the financial unit participates in strategic planning for budgets and performs complex research and reconciliation of accounts.

Role and Responsibilities:


  • Review and approve your immediate staffs GJEs this includes rerates which should be carefully checked for entry accuracy and approve SHINES invoices as needed.
  • Handle county and vendor complaints
  • Assist Auditors with questions
  • Balance and close the books monthly by 3pm on the last working day of the month
  • Responsible for being able to determine balancing issues and policy and procedure issues
  • reconcile all Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables spreadsheets monthly back to the GL accounts and ensure that supporting documentation is in the file
  • Supervise immediate staff; coach staff in areas of noted weakness in work performance that may require additional mentoring/training
  • If the offices are shortstaffed responsible for ensuring all work in your area of leadership is done
  • Create performance management plans (PMPs) and complete midpoint evaluations by January 31st and PMPs by July 31st. Submit each of these to the reviewing manager before covering with the staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED AND5 years of jobrelated accounting or fiscal experience which includes two 2 years in a lead worker team leaderor supervisory role.
OR
  • One 1 year of experience at the lower level Accounting Technician 3 (FIT022 or position equivalent.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience:


  • Five 5 years experience in a DFCS accounting office.
  • Skilled at use of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with Accounts Payable/Receivable.
  • Good communication skills written and oral.
