Job Description
Job Role: PostgreSQL Database Administrator
Experience: 10 years
Location: Chennai/Hyderabad/Bangalore/Pune
A PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for expertly managing the PostgreSQL database system. The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of relevant experience in PostgreSQL DBA and possess the following skills and responsibilities:
- Working experience on Amazon Aurora RDS
- Experience in handling migration from onpremises to the Amazon cloud
- Handson experience in PostgreSQL migrations from other RDBMS
- Handson experience in PostgreSQL Native replications
- Creating database objects such as triggers indexes etc.
- Monitoring the performance of the database and ensuring optimum performance
- Identifying potential issues in the database and solving them early
- Knowledge on Auto Vacuum jobs and Customized VACUUM on certain tables and columns
- Maintaining backups and performing disaster recovery in case of database destruction
- Monitoring security and preventing unauthorized access to the database
- Scheduling consistent maintenance on the server
- Managing database availability
- Providing best practice guidance to the development team
- Resolving any production data issues
- Tablespace management
- Role management
- Developing automation technologies to accelerate the process of data loading
- Developing relational databases
- Ensuring data integrity
- Managing user access and permissions by adding and removing users as required
- Maintaining the database using different utilities including pgctl and psql
- Database recovery installation and maintenance
- Database administration backups performance tuning security data modeling and troubleshooting
- Knowledge and handson experience with Shell and Perl scripting
- Available for 24x7 support and able to handle the P1P2 MI calls
- Abiding by the ITIL v4 framework
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field
- PostgreSQL certification is a plus
- Strong problemsolving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Proven experience in a similar role
