Position Information:
The NWHSU College of Chiropractic is currently seeking a Department Chair to lead the Practice & Professionalism Department.
The role includes a range of responsibilities including departmental leadership with oversite in the areas of compliance legal aspects of health care professionalism and business practices. This position is both academic and managerial and helps shape the foundational courses related to chiropractic education.
Work Location: Bloomington MN with flexibility to work 12 days per week remotely; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.
Duties:
- Management of Faculty Recruiting and onboarding of new faculty encouraging faculty development identifying and implementing performance improvement plans administration of faculty performance appraisals organizing and leading departmental meetings coordinating and representing the College of Chiropractic at Admissions and CE events.
- Curriculum Management Review course CORE and ensure continuous quality improvement submission of course change proposals to the Curriculum Management Committee monitor internal and external metrics and mapping associated with the topics taught within the department (PLO accreditation and licensing boards) coordinate course content across department(s) monitor course evaluation data for department courses coordinate department schedules with the Registrars office manage departmental assets and the life cycle of departmental equipment. Assist with the Curriculum Transformation project. Work on NCMIC partnership and Integrative Care initiatives. Chairs will work across departments and programs to build experiences for integration with other programs.
- Student Management Coordinate departmental participation in student orientation activities as needed. Collaborate with department faculty and student advising and support staff to meet students advising and support needs. Respond to student concerns regarding department faculty and courses and attempt to resolve concerns according to established processes and the chain of command. Maintain a responsive and respectful student learning experience.
- Budget and Facilities Management Responsible for managing related spaces (facilities) and existing equipment identify safety issues the needs for renovation and any request for repairs. Track inventory and the life cycle of all equipment work with facilities to ensure all assets are adequately secured. Work with the college dean to determine budgetary needs and complete purchase/expense requests. Collaborate with facilities and security to appropriately secure departmental spaces and equipment.
- Operations Evaluate department related course web pages (Moodle) and syllabi for updates and template use. Review and submit revisions for the university catalog regarding matters related to departmental changes and schedules. Review and determine faculty members for teaching assignments and identify recommend and mentor instructors. Review course grade change requests for department courses coordinate with other department chairs and college deans on office space needs and assignments.
- Committee participation and leadership.
- Attendance at NWHSU related functions.
What you need to have
- Licensed chiropractor in the state of MN.
- Full time ranked College of Chiropractic faculty member.
- Experience teaching within higher education.
- Direct experience in engaging and advising students as a faculty member or administrator.
- Experience in roles requiring exceptional communication skills and demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships.
- Experience building trust and communicating empathy.
- Experience providing chiropractic care.
- Meets other university faculty qualifications.
