Job Description

Hope For Youth has openings for a Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment (CPST) Worker in our CMHRS Department. Hope For Youth is a nonprofit organization specializing in child welfare services. For over 50 years Hope for Youth strives to provide positive outcomes for children adolescents and families. A CPST Worker would assist children and their families achieve stability in their home set goals and create interpersonal relationships. This person would also provide crisis management and counseling. This position is part time with flexible hours based on the needs of the program and clients.

Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) services are goaldirected supports and solutionfocused interventions intended to address challenges associated with a behavioral health need and to achieve identified goals or objectives as set forth in the childs treatment plan. CPST services include the activities necessary to correct or ameliorate conditions discovered during the initial assessment visits. CPST is a facetoface intervention with the child/youth family/caregiver or other collateral supports. This is a multicomponent service that consists of therapeutic interventions such as counseling as well as function OLP to address identified rehabilitative needs with a comprehensive treatment plan. Services are delivered in a trauma informed culturally and linguistically competent manner.


To be a successful CPST Worker you must be ready willing and able and willing to always:

  1. Function within the policies and procedures as outlined in program practice guide and employee manual
  2. Adhere to state regulations and applicable code of conduct
  3. Work within an interdisciplinary team to assist client in their overall functioning and achieve desired outcomes
  4. Conduct Family Individual and group therapeutic services in the home community and office spaces
  5. Engage youth in Psychosocial Rehabilitation and vocational training
  6. Attend trainings and professional development as assigned
  7. Attend meetings as assigned
  8. Develop a treatment plan with the child/family to restore functioning and/or ameliorate behavioral health symptom with the guidelines provided by OMH.
  9. Apply agencyidentified Evidence Based Interventions best suited to meet the clients needs.
  10. Provide transportation for client to their service location.
  11. Ensure that service delivery is in a trauma informed culturally and linguistically competent manner
  12. Discharge planning as needed
  13. Perform other resulting and necessary work to meet the needs and requirements of the clients the program Hope For Youth oversight agency and any other regulatory obligations

How you will generally spend your time in this job:

  • 70 Direct client therapeutic contact including transportation
  • 20 Case documentation reports case related meetings
  • 10 Staff meetings/supervision/training

To qualify for this job you need to be or have at minimum:

  1. Must have a Masters Degree or higher and 1 years experience working with children/adolescents and families
  • Bachelors degree and certification in Evidenced Based Practice consistent with the CPST component being delivered. OR
  • Bachelors degree and three years applicable experience in childrens mental health addiction and/or foster care/child welfare/juvenile justice or other related human services field and no certification in an Evidenced Based Practice
  1. Valid NYS Drivers License in current and ongoing good standing with ongoing access to own reliable vehicle
  2. Demonstrate computer literacy including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record system upon hire
  3. Physical Requirements: read/write reports and log entries walking/standing/sitting for prolonged periods bending/stooping kneeling/squatting climbing stairs reaching overhead repetitive wrist/finger movements ongoing access to reliable vehicle and driving own vehicle for work

This opportunity is being offered as PartTime 1020 hour Weekdays/Weekends based on client needs
