The Center for Health Promotion works with many different wellness topics including; alcohol and substance use nutrition sleep hygiene stress management sexual health and suicide prevention. Student Health Ambassadors will work 5 to 8 hours per week at $15.50 per hour. These hours will be completed on site during the offices working hours of 9 am to 5 pm with possibilities for weekend and evening outreach or tabling. The Center for Health Promotion is located in the lower level of Hammond.
Responsibilities Include:
Serve as a representative on one or more of the Wellness Committees that is coordinated by the Center for Health Promotion Team including the Alcohol & Other Team or the Mental Health Flock.
Develop and design health and wellness content for social media LCD screens campaigns and other educational or outreach initiatives.
Outreach about health and wellness content and serving as a representative for the Center for Health Promotion at various campus events including Admissions Open Houses resource fairs office collaborations etc.
Help oversee the Wellness Resource Room(s) including keeping the space(s) tidy and organized and restocking wellness supplies and information.
Provide feedback and consultation about Center for Health Promotion initiatives.
Proficiency in utilizing different technology platforms such as Microsoft Teams Canva Drupal and other technologies that will be utilized to complete tasks. (Student Health Ambassadors will receiving learning tools for platforms they are not familiar with)
Qualifications
Demonstrate respect for others rights feelings lifestyles and diverse backgrounds
Strong interpersonal and communication skills including public speaking skills needed for outreach tabling and initiatives
Capability of working independently in a group setting and to take initiative
Students need to present themselves professionally and maintain privacy to students employees and campus partners
Students must demonstrate a willingness to learn and comfortability with discussing wellness topics (Note: content knowledge is not an expectation as Student Health Ambassadors will be receive ongoing training on wellness topics covered)
Strong work ethic and time management skills
Preferred: Students with experience in graphic design and/or video making skills
Preferred: Students with some background knowledge of health and wellness topics
