Media Asset Management Specialist

FLSA Classification: FullTime; NonExempt

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Department of Museum Services

Company Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Nashville the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum documents and interprets the history of country musica musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city the state and the nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums the museum proudly combines subject expertise ambitious research and preservation of an unparalleled collection with expressions of creativity in music art and history. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs publications and exhibitions. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its evolution as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print a letterpress print shop opened in 1879 and it operates Historic RCA Studio B where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.

Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of Library and Archival Collections the Media Asset Management Specialist will utilize an artificial intelligence powered media management system to ensure that the museums institutional digital media assets are properly preserved described and made accessible.


Specific Job Duties:

  • Manage influx of digital media assets into media asset management system adhering to best practices and processes to ensure the most efficient use of the system
  • Prepare digital media assets for ingestion maintaining proper formatting and naming conventions
  • Create primary metadata description for digital media assets
  • Evaluate and verify artificial intelligence produced metadata to ensure accuracy of descriptions
  • Assist internal users with the retrieval of digital media assets
  • Monitor system performance and address technical issues with IT or vendors as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant field (Library and Information Science Media Production or related)
  • One year of professional experience working with and coordinating effective use of metadata in a media asset management system
  • Experience working with digital photographic and audiovisual assets in a museum library archive or in a creative operations/production environment
  • Working experience and knowledge of metadata schemas standards and best practices
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence powered media asset management systems (Axle AI or similar system)
  • Detailoriented skill set and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Familiarity with the history of country music and key figures within the genre

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in artificial intelligence powered media asset management systems
  • Strong understanding of metadata standards file formats and digital workflows
  • Experience working with photographic and audiovisual content in a museum setting
  • Working knowledge of country music and its everevolving history

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
