The Archives and Central Services Division of the Alaska Court System (ACS) invites applications for an Imaging Technician 1 (salary range 9. Under general supervision the successful applicant will be responsible for the archival preservation of all permanent ACS documents and audio media.



The following are currently assigned duties which may be reassigned within the division based on business requirements:

  • Receive boxes of case files and audio media from statewide court locations; inventory case files by court location and by case type;
  • Prepare case files and papers for scanning and microfilming: identify permanent from nonpermanent documents removing holding devices (paperclips staples) mending torn pages and creating target sheets;
  • Evaluate confidential boxes in preparation for final disposition and destruction;
  • Maintain logs and reports to document individual production and reporting of individual time;
  • Operate computer and microfilm scanner to digitally convert source documents into high quality products conforming to industry standards; duties include computer and scanner setup and scanning operations indexing maintenance checks and equipment cleaning;
  • Identify and retrieve digital case files and perform setup of program and parameters and loading/unloading of microfilm;
  • Verify images by checking for indexing errors overlaps digital size and legibility for adherence to quality control standards; make corrections as needed;
  • Visually audit 100 of case files scanned as a quality control device comparing index sheets to case files in the box;
  • This position operates in a highvolume production mode. The incumbent is required to spend significant time operating scanning and archival equipment to meet production schedules.


This is a flexiblystaffed position. Progression to the higher level may occur when the incumbent: 1 successfully completes a specified training plan; 2 meets all other specified terms of the flexible staffing agreement; 3 meets the minimum qualifications of the higher level; 4 is certified by the supervisor as capable to perform at the higher level; and 5 is approved by the Human Resources Department. When certified this position may be reclassified to Imaging Technician 2 range 10 $24.15 hourly).

Work Hours
Fulltime court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a onehour lunch break.

An ideal applicant will possess the following knowledge skills and abilities. Please detail these in the required cover letter:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Operation of microfilm mailroom and print shop equipment.
  • Operate adjust and perform minor repairs of microfilm equipment.
  • Adhere to stringent quality control standards.
