Schwartz Farms Inc. was founded in 1978 and at the time was predominantly involved in crop farming. Although Schwartz Farms is still involved in farming todays primary operations are within the pork industry. Schwartz Farms Inc. employs over 550 fulltime individuals and owns sows in the upper Midwest predominantly in Minnesota Kansas Iowa South Dakota and Nebraska. We also utilize approximately 300 independent contractors. As a premier pork producer Schwartz Farms embraces itself for a challenging and rewarding future.

POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:

As a new Full Time Maintenance & Repair Technician at Schwartz Farms Inc. you can expect an engaging and handson experience! The purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to provide general maintenance and construction support to all companyowned and companymanaged production facilities including but not limited to areas of plumbing welding carpentry painting electrical and machine and vehicle servicing remodeling and assigned new construction projects. When needed individual will be tasked to assist with other necessary barn chores assigned by supervisor. Fulltime position with rotating oncall weekends as discussed also with supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Specifically the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the following activities:

• Maintain repair and rebuild various production mechanisms and equipment to ensure effective operation including but not limited to loading chutes crates gates ventilation system components curtains power washers feed and water systems
• Provide general maintenance and upkeep on companyowned buildings to prevent deterioration including but not limited to building partitions walls roofs & roof systems windows doors floors woodwork concrete repairs and other parts of building structures
• Perform general preventative maintenance service and repairs on airconditioning and heating systems
• Provide general plumbing repair and installation
• Provide minor electrical repair and installation
• Ensure the proper planning and completion of new construction minor remodeling and ad hoc projects as assigned
• Ensure proper & timely Company documentation & record keeping requirements are being met.
• Develop and maintain knowledge in the procedures and safety measures in the areas of plumbing welding carpentry painting machine servicing electrical and/or vehicle servicing
• Coordinate and work with vendors on obtaining necessary parts and supplies procuring assistance with escalated projects etc.
• Advocate and engage in SFIs animal welfare policy including promoting animal wellbeing remedying circumstances which impede animal care and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse
• Adhere to all company vehicle policies and follow all local state and federal regulations associated with operating a motor vehicle
• Demonstrate promote and adhere to all Company safety policies
• Be knowledgeable and adhere to all Company biosecurity protocols
• As required respond to emergencies after normal business hours; incumbent will maintain a disposition permitting him/her adhere to the above when on call and waiting to be engaged
• Assist with barn chores as needed assigned by supervisor

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

Position may involve nonstandard business hours in the event of emergency repairs. Incumbent may carry out several different tasks in a day or at any number of locations and may have to stand for long periods lift heavy objects and work in uncomfortable awkward or cramped positions or on ladders. As a result of distance traveled may involve overnight stay.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of general mechanical skills including general carpentry welding electrical plumbing & concrete experience
• Strong communication and multitasking skills
• Previous plumbing painting machine servicing electrical and/or vehicle servicing experience preferred or a combination thereof
• Must maintain a clean driving record

Required Experience:

IC
