DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Applications Developer (Senior Tableau Developer). This position is responsible for designing developing and maintaining complex dashboards reports and visualizations using Tableau Server Desktop and Tableau Cloud. As well as collaborating closely with business stakeholders and data teams to translate complex data into actionable insights while also providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers within the organization.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

All work including remote work should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead development of new reports and dashboards using Tabelau to meet functional and technical designs.
Engage with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional requirements and contributes to completion of functional specifications.
Create deliverables according to the Software Development Lifecycle such as functional and technical specifications use cases test cases and system documentation.
Develop dashboards and workbooks analyze and resolve production problems in a timely manner resolve enduser service requests as assigned.
Mentor junior developers.
Complete unit and system test dashboard changes to ensure quality of work. Prepare technical documentation on application specifications.
Proactively solve complex problems. Analyzes debugs and resolves defects in applications. Fixes and develops changes to applications to meet functional and technical designs following best practices and development standards and guidelines.

Skills In:
Writing complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from different sources
Data visualizations (reports and dashboards) as required supporting business teams with user stories including UI/visualization aspects
Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor and guide junior developers
Good business communication skills
Ability to:
Learn new technologies
Work effectively and independently
Build strong relationships inside and outside the organization
Deliver in fast paced Agile Delivery cycles
Interpret and analyze test results
Use or maintain testing frameworks test libraries databases and test environments
This ideal candidate for this position will have:
Extensive SQL and ETL knowledge.
This position may require driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business then the following requirements apply: Drivers License Requirements.
Bachelors degree plus 8 or more years of programming and analysis experience (or equivalent experience).
Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 411969.
Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the abovementioned process and the agencys ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
