Job Description

Description / Position Overview

PARTTIME Maintenance Services Worker Deerfield CommunityCenter

In this position you will be responsible for assisting with janitorial duties events facility setup and takedown at Deerfield Community Center.


This is a part time .5 position (atwill) with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws which include Workers Compensation Medicare unemployment insurance and PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association). Normal work hours will vary based on the needs of the department. This position works primarily evenings and weekends and will require a minimum of 20 hours each week with the occasional opportunity to work extra hours.

Essential Functions:the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:

  • Perform daily custodial duties such as sweeping mopping restroom cleaning vacuuming removing bags of trash external facility/parking lot trash pickup helping to provide a highquality facility on a consistent basis.
  • Provide custodial support during and after events and programs.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of facility events and programs including organizing chairs tablesprojectors program supplies decorations etc.
  • Bepresentasastaffrepresentativeforfacilityevents rentalsandprograms.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants and staff.
  • Assist users with various event and program needs during their events and programs.
  • Assist with accurate and timely completion of personnel and administrative reports.
  • Performminorfacilitymaintenance
  • Assiststaffwithproblemsolvingfacilityissues
  • Attend trainings and complete certifications as required

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
  • Knowledgeofandabilitytosafelyusematerialssupplieschemicalsandmachineryusedinfacilitymaintenance.

  • Establisheffectiveworkingrelationshipsbothinternallyandwithexternalpartnersandcustomers.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).
    Education and Experience Equivalency: One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with special event support
  • One year of experience with janitorial/facility management including building operations minor facility maintenance facility cleaning/custodial support or related fields

Additional Information

Physical Demands:This position requires the ability to stand stoop walk climb and bend for extended periods and lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
