Compensation is per credit; the current credit rate is $775 $1650 per semester credit

This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).

ABOUT THE POSITIONS AND THE PHYSICS PROGRAM AT NORMANDALE

Normandale Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to join the Physics Department. The members of the Physics Department are committed to providing a solid foundation in physics to students of all backgrounds. We believe in supporting a quality education experience that provides learning opportunities for our diverse student body.

Normandale Community College is striving to achieve racial equity in educational outcomes. Those hired into these positions will be expected to advance this goal through culturally responsive teaching identifying barriers to success for students of color and proposing effective solutions to eliminate those barriers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree with a major in physics or

  • Masters degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits 27 graduate quarter credits) in physics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework beyond the Masters degree

  • Postsecondary teaching experience

  • Experience serving diverse and underserved populations

  • An understanding of the community college mission and its unique population

  • Experience in online learning and/or course delivery using webbased course management systems such as D2L

  • Experience in using innovative teaching and learning approaches

  • Experience providing specific strategies to create a sense of belonging within the classroom

  • Experience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students including students of color firstgeneration students and Pell eligible students

  • Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity equity and inclusion

  • Demonstrated commitment to collegial activities service on committees developing assessment and guiding students
