Job Description

The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is currently seeking a highly skilled Busser to join our team at our beautiful oceanfront property!

Schedule:


SUMMARY

Assists server in providing friendly and professional service to our members and guests. Promotes and follows LJBTC Inc.s Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Collects reusable items or waste materials such as table service paper and leftover food stuffs. Separates and disposes of waste in proper containers. Moves reusable materials to kitchen or storage.

  • Inspects materials and sorts items or materials into piles at the dish cleaning area or linen collection area. Places in container according to type size condition coloring marking or other characteristics.

  • Sets tables as required.

  • Provides drinking water and frequently refurbishes beverages upon guest or server requests.

  • Anticipates guest needs and provides genuinely friendly attentive professional service.

  • Maintains all service and restaurant areas as required.

  • Completes assigned side work duties (preparation/setup and closing prerequisites).

  • Provides room service prompt thorough service to hotel guests and picks up trays.

  • Assists servers in attending to guests needs and expectations.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

OUTCOME

This position impacts the patrons overall impression of the restaurant and the quality of the dining experience. The support aspect of the bus person position helps enable other members of Dining Room Team to focus on guest needs and expectation.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to onemonth related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to customers clients and other employees of the organization. Must have the ability to communicate with customers fluently in English.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract twodigit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS

Must have and maintain current Food Handlers Card.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand for an extending length of time; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; and talk see or hear. The employee is constantly required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally employees must climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; and taste or smell.


The employee must constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds including carrying heavy food trays. Occasionally employees may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.


Specific vision abilities required by this job include to ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock burns from hot equipment and lacerations from sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The pace is generally moderate and may be quite fast.


Employees are required to perform all tasks as safely as possible and to adhere to the applicable safety procedures.

INTERACTION

Daily interaction with managers supervisors service kitchen personnel and customers. Periodic interaction with purchasing and other department personnel.


SCHEDULING

This company operates seven days a week 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
