RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under immediate supervision of a Senior Engineer and/or Physical Plant Engineer directs and/or supervises University plumbers electricians preventive maintenance mechanics and refrigeration mechanics engaged in the operation maintenance and repair of building support equipment in assigned buildings or University grounds. Assists in preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial refrigerators freezers icemakers electrical air conditioning and heating equipment or systems including chilled water heating and cooling air compressors pneumatic controls. Repairs building electrical systems. Services exposed water gas and sewer systems; checks building security and fire alarm. Performs minor service and maintenance on chemical water treating systems. May be required to work nights or weekends. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of a standard high school or equivalent vocational or technical schoolwith training in two or more of the following: refrigeration air conditioning and heating electrical mechanical or years of combined experience and training in the maintenance and operation of physical plant systems including the associated plumbing heating ventilation air conditioning and electrical of a refrigerant certificate Type I and II issued by an EPA approved agency. Ability to read and interpret engineer drawings operation and maintenance manuals and perform preventive maintenance on physical plant to understand and implement oral and written instructions. Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful and Proven experience in a supervisor role in past employment. Five years of proven experience in the maintenance and operation of physical plant systems. Vocational training in physical plant installation and maintenance areas. Holds an EPA Section 608 Technician Universal Certification. Should be working toward or possess a License issued by the State of Oklahoma for HVAC Electrical or Plumbing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exposure to physically demanding tasks in extreme weather conditions. Lifting and carrying loads over 50 pounds. Frequent repeated bending stooping kneeling and overhead work. Climbing ladders working at heights and in confined spaces. May be designated as an essential position during emergency closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.
SALARY RANGE:
Commensurate with experience.
