Job Description

Resources Technician

Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District

Fresno/Clovis CA

Our Resources Technicians provide support to the many programs of the Districts Environmental Resources Department. The Department leads stormwater pollution prevention efforts for Fresno Clovis and nearby County residents.

The District takes pride in planning building and operating a unique urban drainage and rural flood control system covering more than 400 square miles between the San Joaquin and Kings Rivers in Central California. If youre hardworking and you want to make a difference in the community this role could be a great fit for you. As a Resources Technician you will be on the front lines directly impacting the community with the work that you do.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect: Inspect construction commercial and industrial sites.
  • Respond: Respond to pollutant spills and citizen complaints.
  • Sample: Gather soil and water quality samples review and enter data.
  • Represent: Represent the District in the field and at meetings with the construction community commercial and industrial operators and other public agencies.
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with all regulations and laws.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience in construction/commercial/industrial facility inspection environmental management or environmental science or one of the following:
    • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Environmental Science or related field.
    • One 1 year of experience in another District Technician series.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Once you have been trained and have experience with each task you will work independently with general oversight from District management or other senior staff.
  • Safety Minded: Ability to follow safety protocols to protect yourself your coworkers and the public.
  • Adaptability: Flood Control staff work outside in all seasons and in all weather. Assignments and priorities can shift daily.
  • Reliability: You will be working as part of an interdependent team; we will count on you to show up consistently and independently manage your tasks.
  • Drivers License: A valid California drivers license is needed; you will be driving District vehicles on a regular basis.
