Job Summary:

As a Hydraulic Lab Test/Validation Engineer you will execute Lab testing of hydraulic components systems and related products at the Caterpillar Global R&D Headquarters as part of new product development programs or continuous improvements projects. Major challenges facing incumbents are meeting goals for cost quality and performance and managing multiple priorities. This position must keep up to date on changing clients needs as the project progresses stay current with new technology and provide guidance and direction on the project to less experienced engineers technologists and technicians. Incumbents may be expected to bear significant responsibility for the completion of a project with a major focus on delivery.

What You Will Do:

Defining test validation requirements.

Performing lab tests to validate components/systems.

Analyzing test data.

Communicate results and make recommendations to customers suppliers team members and other business units.

Identifying and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

Validating and implementing product solutions.

Documenting findings in technical reports.

Education Requirement:

Requires a Bachelors degree from an accredited Engineering Computer Science or Materials Science curriculum

In lieu of an accredited Engineering or Technical degree an Associates degree with at least 7 years of progressive directly related technical experience will be accepted.

Excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts.

Selfstarter with strong technical leadership skills.

Previous Hydraulic or powertrain product development experience (design test or analysis).

Demonstrated ability to work on complex assignments.

Excellent mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems.

Understanding of hydraulic systems

Good handson and troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication and meeting facilitation background.

Ability to work with others in a teambased environment.

Experience with data analysis tools.

Experience with data acquisition systems.

Experience working in a lab test facility.

Experience with hydraulic systems and/or components.

Experience with Caterpillar NPI and CPI systems.

Product Testing:
Documents test process and results; prepares and analyzes defecttracking reports.
Summarizes features of a specific producttesting process and associated procedures.
Tests components for compliance with functional requirements and established conventions.
Discusses and compares usability safety and integration testing.
Develops producttesting procedures; participates in selecting testing environment and tools.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems:
Documents common hardware software and communications problems and likely resolutions.
Troubleshoots typical technical problems in a specific area.
Works with vendorspecific diagnostic guides tools and utilities to discover application problems.
Adheres to standard troubleshooting procedures to ensure effectiveness of resolutions.
Participates in setting evaluation standards and criterion for troubleshooting.
