Job Description

Job Summary

First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care Systemis currently accepting CVs from Pulmonary and Critical Care AGACNPs/PACs to join their employed physician group on the West Coast of Florida.

FPG Pulmonology specializes in the areas of Pulmonology Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. This premier group of over 40 providers has been delivering exceptional care to the residents of the Suncoast for the last 30 years.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Full time AGACNP or Physician Assistant (PAC) position.
  • Hospitalbased nightshift position working thirteen 12hour shifts per month (including weekends) rotating between the SMHVenice Hospital and SMH Sarasota Campus.
  • Shifts will be 7PM7AM.
  • Work collaboratively with Pulmonary/Critical Care (Intensivists) at each hospital along with other subspecialties to provide the best patient care.
  • Circulate the units evaluate patients review daily notes labs and studies to identify patient needs.
  • Discuss care plans with RNs and enter orders accordingly.
  • Review ABGs vent settings and plan accordingly with Respiratory Therapists (RTs).
  • Address cross coverage issues to include abnormal labs or changes in patient condition.
  • Provide stabilization of patient if deterioration occurs.
  • Will place central lines perform intubations participate in stroke alerts and respond to housewide codes when needed.
  • Responsible to complete admissions to the ICU and stepdown units.
  • Current AGACNP or PAC with acute care experience is preferred but not required. Open to providing training.

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) reflects the mission vision and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevant policies procedures guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. The APRN III typically work in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist procedures (chest tube line placement etc. multiple inpatient units managing patient care which includes critical care trauma and surgery. An APRN is a registered nurse and therefore can perform all duties that are considered routine duties of a registered nurse. In addition an APRN holds a masters or doctoral degree. The APRN functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide highquality costeffective advanced nursing care to patients within the APRNs scope of practice.

Required Qualifications

Require advanced degree from an accredited school or college of nursing* *Must have had a Medicare number in the State of Florida prior to 1/1/03; if not must have a Masters Degree in nursing in addition to being a Registered Professional Nurse who is authorized by Florida to practice in accordance with state law.
Require approved APRN board certification**. **Must be certified as a APRN by a recognized national certifying body having established standards for APRNs. The following organizations are recognized national certifying bodies for the Nurse Practitioner: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Nurses Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners & Nurses; Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation; Critical Care Certification Corporation; National Commission on Certification; and American Association of Heart Failure Nurses.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Prefer knowledge of state federal and local health care agencies and programs.
Prefer ability to work independently and effectively with physicians and other allied health personnel in the hospital and/or office setting.
Prefer demonstrated clinical competency skills.
Prefer demonstrated knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice and current prescription writing skills/DEA licensing.
Prefer demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.
Prefer demonstrated written & verbal communication & strong analytical skills.
Prefer effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
Prefer effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
Prefer knowledge of relevant state and federal laws statutes and regulations.
