How You Will Make an Impact
- Support cis women trans and nonbinary individuals who have experienced genderbased violence and are navigating the legal system.
- Support and assist individuals in accessing resources and understanding their rights.
- Advocate for a legal system that is responsive and accountable to those who have experienced genderbased/intimate partner violence.
- Provide respectful appropriate and culturally competent services to diverse and marginalized communities.
- Work effectively to address the systemic barriers faced by women trans nonbinary and genderfluid individuals within the legal system.
- Plan attend and support public education initiatives and community events.
- Collaborate with coworkers to plan and facilitate group activities internally.
- Responsible for participating in Good Shepherds Health and Safety programs procedures procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd
What Youll Bring to Our Team
- Completed postsecondary education in social justice criminology law and/or legal studies is required
- Thorough knowledge of issues such as genderbased violence intimate partner violence mental health substance use and harm reduction
- Thorough knowledge of the criminal justice system domestic violence legislation in the Criminal Code Immigration systems Family law and the Family court system
- A minimum of two years experience working with individuals who have experienced genderbased violence is required.
- CPR/1st Aid is required
- A valid Ontario Drivers License is required
- Excellent verbal and written communication interpersonal skills public speaking and advocacy skills are required.
- Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset
