Position Summary
The Shuttle Bus Driver (Van Driver) drives minibus or van to transport clients trainees or company personnel; drives vehicle from individual or central loading area to social services or rehabilitation center training location job site or other destination according to assigned schedule. This driver may assist disabled passengers into and out of vehicle secure passengers wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip; may operate radio or similar device to communicate with base station or other vehicles to report disruption of service clean and/or service vehicle with fuel lubricants and accessories keep records of trips and/or behavior of passengers and perform other duties when not driving such as custodial and building maintenance tasks. This parttime position will only be available for 29 hours/week.
Position Description:
Assists passengers and military units as required in all weather conditions to include but not limited to intense heat smoke heavy wind blowing sand heavy rain snow sleet and ice.
Regulates heating lighting and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
Complies with local state and federal traffic regulations.
Inspects van unit per DOT regulations responsibilities include confirming fuel oil and water levels before departing for a scheduled mission.
Drivers shall abide by all rules and regulations of the Shuttle Service Operations.
Must report schedule delays vehicle damage or accidents to Shuttle Service Supervisor immediately upon occurrence.
Responsible for precheck inspections record keeping dispatching maintaining utilizing cleaning and refueling of the equipment they are utilizing.
Drive front rear or allwheel drive 12 or 15 passenger vans to complete 3 different shuttle services 7 days a week however not limited to support mission requirements.
All other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements:
Must have excellent communication skills and experience working with customers.
Must have five years experience driving in Alaska winter conditions or comparable winter driving.
Must be skilled at driving front rear or allwheel drive vehicles
Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat smoke heavy wind blowing sand heavy rain snow sleet and ice.
Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to read write and speak English.
Must maintain a drivers license (in good standing)
Must be able to obtain and retain a Common Access Card (CAC) for base access
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Must be able to sit stoop kneel and bend
