Description

Vice President Environmental Claims

This peopleleader position will be responsible for the management staff development and technical claim results for the Environmental team within the Casualty Claims Department. The individual will be responsible for delivering excellent financial and service results involving specialized claim handling of firstparty and thirdparty pollution claims. The claims involve bodily injury and site/property remediation on varied pollution policies and products to include energy underground storage tanks premises pollution contractors pollution liability (CPL) and CPL with E&O coverage and certain general liability. The position will also be responsible for developing staff succession planning and executing strategies to achieve goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the efficient/consistent delivery of service to our customers and business partners that meets or exceeds Chubbs standards and complies with all applicable statutes/regulations within the assigned jurisdiction(s).

This position reports to the SVP Casualty Specialty Claims.

Responsibilities:

The desired candidate is serviceoriented and resultsdriven and must also possess excellent administrative leadership and organizational skills. Candidate must be able to make timely and appropriate decisions. Experience in performance management training staff development and succession planning is a strong plus. This position will:

  • Ensure high level of technical claim handling from professional claims staff.
  • Interact with business management and direct leadership in underwriting to communicate claim trends which impact the business.
  • Responsible for the overall claim strategy for litigated and nonlitigated Environmental claims.
  • Ensure the claims team operational activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management internal and external audits compliance and privacy policies and procedures.
  • Guide staff with the handling of claims ensuring appropriate internal stakeholder coordination and .
  • Analyze and provide appropriate direction on coverage and communicate coverage positions to key parties.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and work with the insured broker and business partners in the adjustment of claims.
  • Set reserves within authority and make claim recommendations to senior management.
  • Establish and maintain strong customer relations.
  • Participate in regular and meaningful discussions with internal and external business partners
  • Travel up to 25.



Qualifications
  • At least ten or more years of experience in claims management with a high degree of competence in the handling of complex casualty claims involving pollution and environmental claims stemming from property damage and bodily injury is required.
  • Experience should include handling both first and thirdparty pollution claims including active remediations on a claims made and reported basis as well as occurrence based general liability policies.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skillsmanage multiple stakeholders through challenging losses including claimants customers insureds brokers attorneys underwriters and senior executivesconcerning losses.
  • Ability to motivate team members while working independently within authority.
  • Indepth knowledge of adjustment processes issues and trends in multiple lines of business.
  • Demonstrated ability in dealing with coverage matters.
  • Working knowledge of industry best practices and procedures.
  • Ability to make prompt intelligent decisions based upon complex loss scenarios.
  • An advanced degree (JD or MBA) is preferred but not required.

The pay range for the role is $159900 to $271900. The specific offer will depend on an applicants skills and other factors. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
