Job Description

COVID 19 OnCampus Requirements

Prior to May 1 2022 the University required all students faculty staff and visitors (including contractors) to declare their COVID19 vaccination status and provide proof that they were fully vaccinated or had an approved accommodation to engage in inperson University activities. These requirements were suspended May 1 2022. Job Summary


A Brief Overview

This position acts as the first point of contact and liaison for the department and/or unit for external organizations. This position coordinates central activities within the department and/or unit such as faculty education and training and monitors and followsup with staff to confirm activity progression. This position performs general accounting and bookkeeping tasks analyzes drafts and monitors departmental budget and prepares variance and financial reports. This position also interprets analyzes and implements policies and procedures and recommends changes. This position directs allocates and supervises the work of other staff.

Job Description

What you will do

  • Acts as the first point of contact and liaison for the department and/or unit for external organizations.

  • Coordinates activities in support of the department and/units operations including preparing and distributing correspondence documents and/or reports.

  • Coordinates and participates in committee meetings.

  • Prepares and finalizes all documentation for the university faculty appointments.

  • Coordinates central activities within the department and/or unit. Monitors and followsup with staff to confirm activity progression and compliance.

  • Determines requirements and purchases equipment furniture and software within a defined budget.

  • Interprets analyzes and implements policies and procedures and recommends changes.

  • Performs general accounting and bookkeeping duties including accounts payable accounts receivable and expense reimbursements. Prepares cheque requisitions journal entries purchase orders and credit card reconciliation.

  • Analyzes drafts and monitors departmental budget and prepares variance and financial reports for the department and/or unit.

  • Directs allocates and supervises the work of other staff.
Required Education
  • Threeyear Community College Diploma or ThreeYear Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
    Required Experience
    • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
      Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

      • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes.

      • Draw logical conclusions and provides opinions and recommendations.
      • Research equity diversity accessibility and inclusion resources and best practices relevant to the job and unit operations in order to inform evidencebased planning.

      • Commitment to principles of equity diversity accessibility inclusion Indigenization and human rights for equity deserving groups.
      • Assess the suitability of job candidates and recommend the most appropriate person for hire.

      • Monitor and assess output and the quality of work from team members and recommend need for formal training or development plans to management and identify possible performance and/or disciplinary issues.
