ABOUT THE ROLE:

UNICA is a program within El Programa Hispano Catlico that provides prevention and intervention services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The goal of the program is to provide support advocacy and opportunity for selfempowerment that enables survivors to exercise free and informed life choices. UNICA is home to the first 24hour DV/SA Spanish language Crisis Line offered in the state of Oregon. This is a bilingual Domestic Violence Survivor Advocate position that will provide short term (approximately 36 months) crisis case management safety planning and resource navigation to DV survivors that are referred to UNICA through our 24/7 UNICA Crisis Line and other community partners. The advocate will support with coordination and facilitation of support groups and conducts community outreach to reach Latine survivors of domestic violence. This position requires a strong antioppression and social justice lens.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Provide crisis intervention safety planning advocacy housing advocacy (SSAs) and related support services to Latine survivors of domestic violence.
• Provide information and referrals to survivors and work with internal and external service providers to support survivor needs.
• Assess domestic violence survivors needs/strengths to develop service plan with appropriate action steps.
• Advocate for Latine survivors with outside agencies and government systems (i.e. Courts Social Security Immigration DHS and others as needed).
• Participate in community meetings with other social service organizations to promote the agency as an identifiable resource for Latine survivors of domestic violence and maintain timely and cooperative contact with outside agencies.
• Participate in various team projects including team meetings project coordination and implementation of pertinent activities such as 40 Hr. DV/SA workshops.
• Support the organization and maintenance of updated resource materials for survivors of domestic violence.
• Maintain an active caseload of 1215 domestic violence survivors with required documentation according to agency and contractual standards.
• Facilitate domestic violence support groups and deliver educational training programs and workshops for the community.
• Weekly 4hour Crisis Line shift with occasional back up coverage as necessary.
• Occasional backup shifts at Gateway Center as assigned by manager.
• Maintain confidential participant files in database/s and compliance with HIPAA El Programa Hispano Catlico and funder policies and procedures.
• Adherence to El Programa Hispano Catolico policies and procedures including privacy and confidentiality requirements as set for by the Violence Against Womens Act (VAWA).
• Perform other duties as assigned by Urgent Services Coordinator and/or
• UNICA Director.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Unless an item or section is labeled required we consider any combination of relevant work experience volunteering education and transferable skills qualifying. Please be clear and specific about how your background is relevant.

• Must be bilingual (Spanish/English) and biculturally competent.
• Ability to communicate concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.
• Two years case management/crisis line experience required preferably with survivors of sexual .
• Knowledge of local Latine community issues as they relate to domestic/sexual violence.
• 40hour DV/SA Advocacy training to be completed within 1st month of hire.
• Data entry and database management experience preferred.
• Strong proficiency in all programs of Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
• Must be able to manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. High attention to detail required.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
• Strong analytical and strategic problemsolving skills.
• Ability to work well in team setting as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics in a fastpaced work environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which could include some evenings and weekends.
• Ability to support organizational and program specific mission and goals.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds.
• This position will require some travel in the TriCounty area. Must have drivers license access to vehicle and ability to obtain automobile insurance at levels required by agency 100/300/100.
• Ability to pass a background check including finger printing and local and national registry checks upon hire and every 5 years.

COMPENSATION: $24 $26/hr. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.

LOCATION & TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Most of the work performed in this position will be done out in the community meeting with survivors where they feel safe or accompanying survivors to needed services. There are times that work can be done remotely from home; however most work is done in the office. Onsite work is located at EPHCs offices in Gresham OR. Job duties may require occasional travel and evening and weekend work depending on project deadlines.
