Job Title: Open Rank Assistant to Associate Professor

Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics has an opening for a fulltime Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. This clinical provider will be a core faculty member in the Section of Nutrition providing health services to children and adolescents. This clinical position will function from the Childrens Hospital Colorado Outpatient

Clinics and serves children and adolescents with nutritionrelated conditions (malnutrition micronutrient deficiencies obesity). This position will have an emphasis on obesity. The candidate will be expected to provide independent direct clinical services for patients seen in the Lifestyle Medicine Clinic (Obesity).

Established in 1993 the CU School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Section of Nutrition was the first independent program dedicated to addressing and promoting best practices for nutrition and physical activity with a focus on disease health and wellbeing for infants and children. Through clinical services research education community outreach and advocacy the section offers a wealth of expertise in obesity undernutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. Areas of

emphasis include climate effects on nutrition health equity/disparities food as medicine precision nutrition braingut mechanisms obesity interventions micronutrients developmental origins of adult disease early infant feeding and

drivers of eating behavior. The Section of Nutrition has a strong commitment to research and education. In 2024 the section had over $24 million in research funding; and their nutrition training programs include the nations longestserving NIHfunded T32 program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care for children adolescents and young adults with nutritionrelated conditions specifically obesity in the outpatient setting
  • Working on a multidisciplinary team.
  • May have opportunity to share Consultative call with Nutrition
  • faculty for the inpatient service.
  • Ability to work and lead interdisciplinary teams

Work Location:

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Degree.
  • Board Eligible or Certified in General Pediatrics or Obesityrelated subspecialty (e.g. Endocrinology or Gastroenterology)
  • Minimum of two 2 years of experience in General Pediatrics OR Obesityrelated subspecialty (e.g. Endocrinology or Gastroenterology)

Associate Professor

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)Degree.
  • Board Eligible or Certified in General Pediatrics or Obesityrelated subspecialty (e.g. Endocrinology or Gastroenterology)
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience in General Pediatrics ORObesityrelated subspecialty (e.g. Endocrinology or Gastroenterology)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three 3 or more years of experience supporting children and families with obesity in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Board Certification in Obesity Medicine or Nutrition is a plus.
  • Experience with quality improvement is a plus
  • Interest in collaborative research opportunities
  • Experience with clinical leadership preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of the complexity of caring for children and families with obesity and associated comorbidities
  • Commitment to continuing education related to standards of care
  • Ability to teach and supervise trainees.
  • Familiar with components of obesity care including lifestyle intervention obesity medications and bariatric surgery
  • Sensitive to issues of bias and stigma related to obesity
  • Interest in population health/community outreach related to healthy communities

The above salary range or hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
