Job Description

La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is currently seeking a highly skilled Server to join our team at our beautiful oceanfront property!

What we ask:

Schedule: Must be able to work weekends and Holidays! Shift may vary from 6am10pm

Pay: $17.25


SUMMARY

Serves meals to patrons in restaurant and consistently provides professional attentive genuinely friendly service to patrons. Promotes and follows LJBTC Incs Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Presents menu answers questions and makes suggestions regarding food and service.

  • Records orders on check or memorizes it.

  • Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and bars.

  • Garnishes and decorates dishes preparatory to serving.

  • Follows all policies for the responsible service of alcohol.

  • Requests identification from customers when legal age is questionable.

  • Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.

  • Totals bill processes and accepts payment in form of cash credit card or membership signature.

  • Ladles soup tosses salads brews coffee and performs other services as determined by particular restaurant practices.

  • Completes assigned side work (prerequisites for preparation /set up and closing)

  • Clears and/or resets tables at conclusion of each course.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

OUTCOME

The Server has a great impact on how restaurant guests and patrons perceive their dining experience. A genuinely friendly attentive knowledgeable server can help ensure that the guest is satisfied with his/her food selection and is eager to return.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Oneyear certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in to customers clients and other employees of the organization. Must have the ability to communicate fluently in English.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic math.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS

Must have and maintain a current Food Handlers Card.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand for an extended length of time; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; and talk see or hear. The employee is constantly required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally employees must climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; and taste or smell.


The employee must constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds including carrying heavy food trays. Occasionally employees may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.

ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals risk of electrical shock burns from hot equipment and lacerations from sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The pace is generally moderate and may be quite fast.


Employees are required to perform all tasks as safely as possible and to adhere to the applicable safety procedures.

INTERACTION

Employees in this position interact daily with managers supervisors service and kitchen personnel and customers. Employees may also interact regularly with other department personnel.


SCHEDULING

This company operates seven days a week 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
