We are seeking a Toddler Assistant Teacher to join our Young Childrens Community (YCC) here at Near North Montessori for the 2025/2026 school year!
The role of the Assistant Teacher (YCC) will support various aspects of the 18 months to 3 years old children; to help foster the development of the children intellectually socially emotionally and physically.
Schedule: 40 hours per week typically Monday through Friday with shifts falling between 8:00am and 6:00pm during the school year with adjustments or additional time as needed. This role may also include an opportunity to work summer camps if desired.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Montessori Instructor Coach with the social emotional physical and cognitive growth and development of students
- Prepare and maintain a Montessori environment including developmentally appropriate materials and activities.
- Assist with maintaining a classroom true to the Montessori philosophy including fostering a classroom community of respect and kindness.
- Demonstrate a warm regard selfregulation integrity curiosity responsibility and creativity with a deep respect for racial cultural and gender diversity
- Assist in preparing cleaning and maintaining the room environment and materials on a daily basis
- Act in a way that exemplifies and models the schools expectations of grace and courtesy
- Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions for position classroom or level when invited
- Acquire professional training in the educational field by attending educational conferences training workshops and other related activities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required assigned or requested
Qualifications :
- Associates or Bachelors degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with children 18 months to 3 years old preferably in a Montessori educational setting
- CPR/First Aid
- Energetic dedicated and able to become involved in all aspects of the program
- Friendly patient and warm demeanor
- Ability to communicate with parents in a positive and engaging manner
- Team player
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level of support and assistance
- Ability to commit to equitable education and employment practices antibias antiracist work and learning
- Effective communicator verbal and written with children and adults
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to a variety of settings and environments
- Basic understanding of a childs cognitive physical social and emotional development
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level of support and assistance
- Physical ability and stamina to support small children throughout the day
Additional Information :
Fulltime employment to start in August of 2025; however we would like to have this position filled by June of 2025.
Pay Information: The pay range for this position is $23.36 $24.50 an hour based on skills and experience.
