Job Description
About the Role:
The Bioinformatics Scientist will join an interdisciplinary team working with an unprecedented set of clinical DNA whole genome and exome sequence data and multiple epigenetic data types produced by novel R&D pipelines at Guardant Health. The scope of this project provides unique opportunities for developing and learning novel analytical methods for DNA sequencing data including cell free DNAbased genomic and methylation data integrated with epigenetic data sets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with large complex data sets. Tend to nonroutine analysis problems applying deep epigenetic knowledge to conduct endtoend analysis of epigenetic cellfree nucleic acid NGS data.
Development continuous improvement and validations of biomarkers for Guardant Health oncology products.
Develop or apply statistical methods and procedures to evaluate and validate Guardant Health technologies.
Work with the Technology Development team to develop and analyze verification and validation experiments as part of regulatory submissions.
Provide analytic support on individual samples and research activities.
Develop scripts for research and development activities and leverage cutting edge AI methods to continuously improve efficiency.
Communicate research results through presentations and project reports as well as scientific publications.
Qualifications :
Ph.D. in Bioinformatics Computational Biology Statistics Biological Sciences Cancer Biology Genetics Genomics Computer Science
05 years of related experience
Proven scientific reputation as demonstrated by scientific publication and/or contribution to successful product development in the biotech industry.
Deep understanding of modern tools and pipelines in genomics for processing and analysis of primary data including somatic and structural variant calling.
Experience with next generation sequencing data analysis (DNA RNA or epigenetic analysis).
Deep experience with a statistical programming language (e.g. R python).
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment:
Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment.
Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however there may be exposure to high noise levels fumes and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Additional Information :
Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health we have defined days for inperson/onsite collaboration and workfromhome days for individualfocused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled inoffice days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant our work model has created flexibility for better worklife balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.
For positions based in Palo Alto CA or Redwood City CA the base salary range for this fulltime position is $128800 to $177100. The range does not include benefits and if applicable bonus commission or equity. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations for the posted role with the exception of any locations specifically referenced below (if any).
Within the range individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including but not limited to jobrelated skills experience and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.
