Overview
The Junior IT Network Administrator plays a crucial role in maintaining and supporting the organizations IT infrastructure. This position is vital for ensuring that our network systems operate smoothly and efficiently which directly impacts business operations and employee productivity. As a junior member of the IT team you will assist in managing network equipment monitoring system performance and implementing security measures to protect sensitive data. Your contributions will support the overall goals of the IT department enhancing connectivity reliability and user satisfaction across the organization. Additionally you will be involved in troubleshooting network issues providing technical support to endusers and participating in system upgrades and installations. This position serves as an excellent foundation for further career advancement in IT networking and administration as you gain handson experience and learn from senior network professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation and configuration of network hardware and software.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Maintain and administer firewalls routers and switches.
- Provide technical support for network users and resolve connectivity issues.
- Document network configurations and changes in a timely manner.
- Participate in network upgrades and expansions as required.
- Ensure network security protocols are adhered to and regularly updated.
- Support server management including backups and recovery processes.
- Collaborate with senior IT staff on network design and implementation.
- Conduct regular system audits to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining user accounts and access permissions.
- Work with vendors and service providers to ensure network contracts are fulfilled.
- Stay updated on the latest network technologies and industry trends.
- Provide documentation for IT processes and procedures.
- Participate in training sessions or workshops as requested.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network CCNA or equivalent is an advantage.
- 12 years of experience in an IT support role.
- Familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g. TCP/IP subnets).
- Experience with network monitoring tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of IT security practices and protocols.
- Experience with documentation tools to maintain accurate records.
- Handson experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Capability to work in a fastpaced environment and handle multiple tasks.
