We are currently looking for an experienced Construction Inspector to join our Municipal and Transportation Design team in Bowmanville. As a Construction Inspector you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and compliance of construction activities on municipal construction projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Engineering site inspection on municipal construction projects for quality control and adherence with applicable provincial standards engineering design and technical specications
- Document construction site activities (keeping a detailed daily report log taking photos performing survey checks and recording asbuilt conditions) and identify and monitor deciencies
- Provide problem resolution and eld solutions with respect to unforeseen construction issues and participate in construction progress meetings
- Arrange onsite geotechnical investigations and material testing (for concrete granular materials and asphalt) and coordinate with Engineering for specialist inspections
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act on construction sites with authority to issue stop work orders; ensure proper Ministry and project procedures are followed to ensure public/pedestrian safety
- Liaise with clients regulatory inspectors various utility companies residents and other stakeholders as required
Qualifications :
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in municipal/civil engineering construction with direct experience in linear infrastructure
- Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff contractors and the public in matters arising from construction projects
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- MTO Class G drivers license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle
- Working knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and its Regulations and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specications (OPSS) for Municipal projects
- Demonstrated skills in the use of computer utilizing programs such as Microsoft Office (Word Excel Project Outlook etc.
- AutoCAD (asset)
- RCSI designation an asset
