About the job

The Kubernetes and Deployment team in the Platform Services division is looking for an Emerging Career Software Development Engineer in Test. This team is responsible for the deployment experience for the SAS Viya Platform. As a member of this team you will help align the Viya Platform with Kubernetes expand and embrace Kubernetes technology adoption and develop deployment and cloud infrastructurefocused tooling and processes to maintain deployment readiness.

As an Emerging Career Software Development Engineer in Test you will:

• Create and maintain the highest quality of test automation that fails fast uses modern development techniques and provides key data points to support metricsbased decision making.
• Apply your automated tests at every layer of the application stack both inside and outside of our continuous delivery pipeline
• Share your creativity by leading effective exploratory testing sessions
• Produce key data that illustrates the quality of our applications and develop insight that drives the direction of quality engineering
• Work with your team to promptly triage test failures with precision and accuracy maintaining the health of the build pipeline
• Work collaboratively with your development product operations and support peers to encourage quality as a key design element is all that we do
• Challenge the status quo every day and never stop improving our quality engineering practices
• Accelerate test coverage using lean testing techniques
• Take a lead role in code reviews for product test and infrastructure code
• Protect our users from escaped defects participate in support escalations and value our Customer Experience above all else
• Understand the role of deployment migration security and performance in our continuous delivery lifecycle
• Practice effective techniques for deploying and operating SAS software in a multi cloud environment
• Develop and maintain authentic data sets used to test our systems at an enterprise level
• Deploy and support high value test in supported cloud environments where needed
• Utilize observability and monitoring tools to proactively detect and remediate failures
• Build human networks and collaborate across teams and across divisions to evolve quality engineering at SAS
• Serve as a mentor to aspiring quality engineers and multiply your impact

Required qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science engineering or a related quantitative field
• 02 years of experience writing software applications testing software and/or general programming including some experience leading projects.
• Effective communication and strong problemsolving skills
• Familiarity with integration regression and unit testing
• Familiarity with Agile development practices
• Familiarity with a CI/CD environment
• Familiarity withdeveloping applications in Kubernetes
• Familiarity with git
• Familiar with various cloud environments and concepts
• Proficient with source control management techniques including branching code review and merging.
• Experience using Docker
• Experience using Linux
• Familiarity with Golang
• Proficiency authoring and maintaining Dockerfiles and Docker image layer optimization
• Proficiency with CI/CD infrastructure platform configuration integration and secret management.

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiarity with using GitHub for source management
• Familiarity with multiple cloud infrastructure provisioning tools and processes
• Experience with webbased microservices REST interfaces and the OpenAPI. specification
• Experience in one test automation framework and can evaluate and adopt new test automation frameworks
• Experience with TestDriven Development (TDD) and Behavioral Driven Development (BDD)
• Working understanding of cloudbased CLIS for Azure GCP and AWS
• Understanding of Kubernetes components and cloud provider offerings.
• Familiarity managing container image versions within container registries.
• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD solutions
• Experience with multiple cloud interfaces
