Job Description

The Quality Specialist Sr. leads the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures to meet established quality standards. This includes performing process audits and inspections identifying and addressing improvement opportunities and ensuring that effective resolutions are achieved. Additionally this position coaches best quality practices and fosters a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field preferred or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Certified Lead/Internal Auditor certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to assist in the development or develop policies procedures and metrics
  • Ability to analyze data and create and review processes
  • Selfmotivated assertive and ability to work under pressure with deadlines both independently and within a team
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster trustbased relationships; collaborative and inclusive team player
  • Strong verbal written and other communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Experience:

  • Three years in quality and food supply chain or related field preferred
  • Prior work experience in a regulated environment preferred
  • Experience with LEAN or similar process improvement methodologies a plus

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the process owner on the development and deployment of policies procedures and programs designed to minimize risk enable compliant business operations products and services and drive uncompromised food bank integrity reliability and predictability
  • Leverage expertise of regulatory requirements (Quality ISO DOT FDA) and apply knowledge to evaluate regulatory changes assess risks and analyze their impact on the business
  • Lead and direct efforts to assess the implementation of quality management systems to drive performance improvement and enhance departmental integrity and optimizing system efficiency
  • Develop implement and maintain standard operating procedures programs and processes to ensure conformance with quality regulatory and company requirements
  • Plan and perform routine process & procedural audits
  • Provide ongoing guidance and direction to operations personnel regarding regulatory and quality matters
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and initiate corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) to establish effective and satisfactory resolutions
  • Utilize Lean & Six Sigma tools to drive quality and continuous Improvement activities across the organization
  • Monitor federal state and local regulatory activities to implement new company procedures or update existing procedures to facilitate compliance; serve as liaison with local state and federal regulators
  • Assist the Quality Director in NTFBs business continuity and disaster recovery efforts as well as the annual food defense risk assessment
  • Represent and/or lead special projects identified by or assigned to the department this includes crossfunctional projects as well
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

  • The person in this position must adapt well in the face of workplace stressors such as complaints maintaining the security of people and property competing priorities of reasonable or high significance to the units successful function.
  • Must be able to gather and classify information for the purposes of notifying offices impacted

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel crouch or crawl; talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

  • Moderate to loud noise (e.g. business office with open floor plan with computers phone and printers light traffic and in the warehouse with forklifts and pallet jacks medium to heavy traffic)
