Job Description
Join the EC2 Commercial Software Services team and help build the next generation of Amazons cloud infrastructure. As a Software Engineer II you will be responsible for designing developing and maintaining critical components that power instance launch performance recovery and troubleshooting. You will work closely with the team to solve complex engineering challenges improve system reliability and performance and deliver new features that delight our customers. Key job responsibilities
Design develop and maintain critical components in EC2 Commercial Software Services
Solve complex engineering challenges to improve system reliability and performance
Deliver new features and enhancements that improve the customer experience
Work closely with the team to understand requirements and architect scalable solutions
Write highquality maintainable code following best practices and coding standards
Participate in code reviews testing and deployment processes
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery

A day in the life of a Software Engineer II may involve:
Collaborating with product managers and other engineers to understand customer requirements and design scalable reliable solutions
Writing highquality maintainable code to implement new features and enhancements to service
Participating in code reviews to ensure best practices are followed and the codebase remains clean and wellstructured
Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues that impact the reliability and performance of the service
Collaborating crossfunctionally with other teams and services to ensure seamless integration

The EC2 Commercial Software Services team is responsible for customerfacing services and features that enhance the EC2 Instance lifecycle experience. Our mission is to provide a reliable scalable and userfriendly service that enables our customers to own and operate their workloads on AWS at scale. We are a passionate collaborative team that is dedicated to solving complex engineering challenges and delivering new features that delight our customers.
3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
