The Harris County Public Library (HCPL) system established in 1921 began as a collection of smalllibraries located in stores post offices and private homes. Over the years it has grown into a robustnetwork comprising 26 branch libraries two technology service centers and two partner locationsthat provide collection and circulation services. HCPL serves the communities of unincorporatedHarris County and cities without independent library systems.Reporting to the Branch Manager Volunteer Coordinator II is responsible for planning developingcoordinating and implementing a comprehensive volunteer program. This role encompassesmanaging all aspects of the librarys volunteer program including recruitment training placementretention and recognition of volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator II establishes proceduresmaintains accurate records ensures compliance with policies and collaborates with staff to identifyand create meaningful volunteer opportunities. Additionally the position oversees marketing effortsto promote the program builds partnerships within the community and acts as the primary liaisonbetween volunteers and library staff to ensure effective communication and support.
