Job Description
Harney District Hospital is seeking a fulltime Certified Surgical Technologist! Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) assist in surgical operations and endoscopic procedures under the supervision of surgeons registered nurses or other surgical personnel. Responsible for preparing the operating room by setting up equipment and sterilizing instruments that are necessary for the operation. Responsible for ensuring equipment is working properly which may involve assembly and a working knowledge of all equipment. Prepare the patient for surgery by washing shaving and disinfecting areas for operation. Assist in transporting transferring and positioning of patients. Ensure the general welfare and safety of patients and assist the surgical team in a manner consistent with the scope of practice of a surgical technician.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology anatomy physiology microbiology and the pathological processes. The knowledge and application of surgical principles aseptic technique and typical equipment used in surgery. Knowledge of computer application software used in surgery and office setting. Knowledge of operative procedures ability to operate sterilizers and equipment used in the surgery department. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of experience as a CST in an acute care multidisciplinary facility or Ambulatory Surgery Center within the past three years. Combined training and experience resulting in learning basic techniques required in performing CST duties with emphasis in general and laparoscopic surgery.
Education and Experience
Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) CST certification upon hire or completion of a training program for surgical technologists in the US military.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Five years prior experience
