St. Marys University School of Law invites applications for three fulltime Assistant Associate or Full Professors of Practice to work in one or a combination of the following academic programs: the Legal Research Analysis and Writing Program the Academic Excellence Program and Bar Success Program. All positions are ninemonth fulltime nontenure track positions. At a minimum Professors of Practice will be hired for a twoyear contract with renewal for good performance at the end of that term. Salary for a ninemonth contract will range from $70000 to $89000 commensurate with experience. Additional stipends may be available for those working with the Bar Success Program who work over the summer months.
Successful Professors of Practice are teamoriented and collaborative committed to excellence in teaching and academic support and demonstrate passionate dedication to their students. These positions are studentfacing and require a campus presence except when teaching online classes. Successful candidates for these positions will teach in one or more of the following programs as determined by each candidates interests and expertise.
Bar Success Program: This program teaches upperlevel courses including Bar Preparation for Credit and our bar coaching program Raise the Bar. The Bar Success Program involves extensive student meetings planning and of workshops data tracking and providing feedback on written work throughout the February and July bar cycles.
Legal Research Analysis and Writing Program: This program combines the skills of traditional legal research and writing with oral advocacy. The program includes two 3credit graded courses in the first year the Writing Center and upperlevel writing instruction. The sections for the firstyear courses in this program are kept small and average between 1318 students.
Academic Excellence Program: This developing program teaches a broad array of legal skills to promote a deep understanding of core legal concepts preparing students for success in both law school and practice. The program is designed to incorporate skills learned in doctrinal courses selfregulated learning and formulated assessment.
Professors of Practice will among other things participate on committees teach classes regularly meet with individual students and provide extensive feedback on written work. Professors of Practice also assist with academic workshops orientation planning and and course planning and materials for the future academic year. St. Marys has a fulltime day and online parttime evening program and Professors of Practice will teach in either or both based on the needs of the office.
