Job Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast affordable broadband to a wide range of customers including consumers businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

We are seeking a Sr. Process Development Engineer to lead the development of innovative manufacturing processes for wire harness assemblies. This role focuses on transforming highcomplexity harness designs into scalable highvolume production while maintaining the highest quality standards. You will be instrumental in driving the automation and optimization of production lines to support the rapid deployment of our satellite constellation.

Key job responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Design: Develop and implement advanced harness manufacturing processes incorporating automation to enable highthroughput production and ensure scalability.
Process Optimization: Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure harness designs are optimized for manufacturability and efficiency. Continuously improve production processes to meet cost quality and throughput targets.
Tooling & Equipment: Identify and develop tooling and equipment for harness assembly. Work with vendors and internal resources to implement these solutions on the production floor.
Automation & Innovation: Identify automation opportunities evaluate return on investment and develop automated solutions to improve production efficiency and reduce manual labor.
Prototyping & ScaleUp: Lead prototype builds ensuring that incremental milestones for production development are achieved. Transition harness designs from prototype to highvolume production.
CrossFunctional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between the engineering development and production teams ensuring smooth communication and alignment on project goals.
Production Support: Provide ongoing support for production troubleshooting issues as they arise and driving continuous improvement efforts.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in a mid/highvolume highcomplexity setting.
Experience with CAD tools (e.g. NX SolidWorks) and familiarity with manufacturing principles such as PFMEA 5S Lean 6Sigma Process Capability Analysis and time studies.

Experience with the project management of technical projects
Experience with aerospace or defense wire harness manufacturing standards (e.g. IPC620 NASA STD 8739.4.
Proven track record in implementing automation into production processes.
Experience transitioning products from design to highvolume manufacturing.
Familiarity with ERP MRP and MES systems.
Handson experience with both manual and automated electromechanical assembly processes.
Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to identify and resolve production blockers effectively.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
