Salary Information: This is a fulltime annualized (nontenure track) position with an entry level base salary (for a 175day academic year contract) of $73813 $104495 annually. Future advancement in base salary up to the current maximum of $104495 is based upon a combination of years of service accrued at our college and professional development activity.
Annual salary is comprised of base salary plus any combination of academic year overload contracts summer effort contracts project stipends student club advising stipends and/or department chair program lead faculty stipends consistent with the provisions of the current collective bargaining agreement between Spokane Colleges and the Association for Higher Education (AHE).

The Math Department at Spokane Falls Community College is active in the implementation of best practices math reform efforts in curriculum and placement and collaborative approaches that support students across the college. The department has received College Spark grants to support the creation of corequisite course offerings and to construct a high school transcript placement instrument. Additionally the department has been supported by internal grants supporting open education resource materials course design and curriculum resource inventories mentoring of peers and writingintensive course design. Department faculty are active in collegelevel committees and initiatives including the Curriculum Committee the Data Ambassador program the eLearning Advisory Committee and Governance.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide highquality effective collegelevel instruction in a variety of developmental and collegelevel courses in the discipline of Mathematics.
- Teaching assignments will include a wide range of courses that the SFCC mathematics department offers. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in both the Math Literacy and STEM pathways in support of the departments mission to serve all SFCC students.
- Course assignments will be on campus and may include online and hybrid sections.
- Provide available and accessible academic consulting and support in a manner appropriate to meet student needs through a combination of scheduled office hours email accessibility or other effective means of responsive and timely communication.
- Communicate expectations and establish clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means to include but not limited to developing course syllabi handouts and materials supporting the instructional process.
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear timely feedback.
- Work collaboratively with diverse colleagues students and community members.

- Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions.
- Support and advance the Spokane Colleges strategic plan and perform other duties as assigned.
- In addition faculty may:
- Instruct courses in related disciplines based upon individual qualifications and expertise.
- Supervise and direct the work of assigned workstudy students.
- Advise student clubs or associations.
- Advise students in their chosen pathway.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An earned Masters degree in Mathematics Applied Mathematics or Math Education from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience equivalent to one full academic year of teaching postsecondary mathematics courses. This may include serving as a lead instructor in a classroom setting or as a graduate teaching assistant who served as the instructor of record.
- A demonstrated commitment to supporting student success and promoting the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
- A clear understanding of and willingness to support the role of community colleges in higher education particularly the mission values goals and objectives of the Spokane Colleges.
- Proven ability to perform assigned duties in compliance with applicable laws regulations and institutional goals of the community and technical college system.
- A demonstrated understanding of and appreciation for the benefits that a diverse workforce brings to the success of the organization and the students it serves.
- A strong commitment to working effectively with colleagues staff students administrators and others from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Evidence of a commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching learning and working environment that honors diversity equity and inclusion.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Thefollowingcompetenciesarenotnecessaryforapplicationbuthavingoneormoreof these could increase a candidates success.
- Demonstrated experience teaching mathematics at both precollege and college levels with effectiveness in both STEM and nonSTEM pathways.
- At least two years of fulltime or fulltime equivalent mathematics instruction at the community college level with evidence of effectiveness in supporting a diverse student population.
- Demonstrated proficiency in teaching mathematics across multiple instructional modalitiesincluding inperson online and hybrid formats.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development assessment of student learning outcomes and implementation of innovative teaching practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency using a range of educational technologies such as learning management systems classroom presentation tools remote delivery platforms and mathematics visualization software.
- Documented engagement with key community college initiatives including equity and diversity efforts Guided Pathways advising student placement and strategies for improving retention and student success.
