You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThis position serves as a resource for Alaskan voters and community partners by facilitating access to translated materials and acting as a liaison for the Divisions Language Assistance Program (LAP). The position supports the LAP by leading the programs outreach and communications strategy building on existing relationships and engaging/collaborating with community organizations tribal councils nonprofits and other relevant outreach efforts. This position is also responsible for conducting Bilingual Election Worker training alongside the LAPs Program Coordinator prior to each state election. This position will involve travel to rural Alaskan communities.

The Divisions mission is to ensure public confidence in the electoral process by administering voter registration and elections with the highest level of professional standards integrity security accuracy and fairness. The Divisions Language Assistance Program is responsible for providing translated election materials and language assistance to limited English proficient Alaska Native voters and other language minority groups covered under the Federal Voting Rights Act.

The Division of Elections offers an upward track for promotions. The Elections Language Assistance Outreach Coordinator is a fully exempt job class under AS 39.25.11020. After successfully completing a period of probation employees in this class achieve permanent status in the Division of Elections.

This position is located at 750 E Fireweed Ln Suite 202 in Anchorage Alaska. The work environment is friendly professional and collaborative with regular interaction with colleagues other state agencies and the public.

High school diploma or GED
AND
Two years of professional communications or outreach experience in an agency with multifaceted operations performing a variety of services requiring independence judgement and initiative in prioritizing and organizing work and in determining the appropriate action to be taken.
Substitution:Postsecondary education from an accredited college (credit hours completed) or vocational school (total hours completed) with a focus in Marketing Communications Journalism Public Relations Alaska Native Studies or a related field may be substituted for one year of the two years of required experience.
