Job Description

Position Title: Occupational Health & Safety Specialist

Duty Location: Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) Fort Worth TX

Employer: QED Enterprises Inc.

Employment Type: Fulltime Hourly

Start Date: Immediately Upon Completion of Background Check

Summary/Description: The onsite Occupational Health and Safety Specialist is responsible supporting Health and Safety operations at a federal government facility. Junior Safety Specialists are responsible for assisting senior staff and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions. Operational services include:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and evaluate injury statistics identify potential workplace safety and health hazards and assist in the development of safety plans
  • Participate in incident investigations by using Root Cause Analysis interviewing injured employees/supervisors/witnesses and suggesting corrective actions
  • Evaluate working conditions and recommend improvement measures in safety and health methods practices and procedures
  • Advise site management operations and project/maintenance teams in matters pertaining to compliance with federal state local and site Health and Safety procedures/regulations
  • Develop implement and execute Health and Safety training programs
  • Conduct formal and informal audits of onsite departments programs and procedures
  • Act as a subjectmatter expert in health and safety matters
  • Participate in the review of operations processes and procedures at the proposal/design phase and throughout implementation to ensure consideration of safety and health issues/hazards
  • Provide safety health and IH monitoring (confined space hearing conservation air flow chemical etc.
  • Calibrate and use industrial hygiene sampling instrumentation via appropriate sampling methods
  • Actively promote healthy and safe work processes within the facility
  • Assist fellow health and safety team members with site safety initiatives and overall implementation of departmental goals
  • Participate in departmental meetings and program reviews

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in health and safetyrelated field or minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety role
  • Familiarity and prior interaction with regulatory agencies
  • Experience with developing and auditing policies and procedures
  • Experience developing and providing health and safety training
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts which could include days nights and/or weekends
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess a BCSP or CSP certification
  • Experience and knowledge of Safety Management Systems
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or industrial setting

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in dynamic climate conditions and a plant/manufacturing environment
  • Lift up to 45 lbs
  • Able to perform basic physical tasks (i.e. work while kneeling squatting sitting climbing and standing)
  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment guidelines
