Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Prevention & Education Manager the Community Educator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating domestic violence and sexual violence prevention education programs for all ages including schools businesses social service agencies and any interested community groups; this position is specifically focused on serving Sacramento County. The position will facilitate approved presentations trainings workshops and outreach to children youth and adults educating about preventing sexual domestic violence and sex trafficking.
Essential Functions:
Prevention & Education Programming
- Deliver presentations workshops and trainings on sexual domestic violence sexual harassment sex trafficking bystander intervention WEAVE services and other related prevention education topics for schools businesses local agencies and community organizations and groups located in Sacramento County.
- Facilitate youth programs including presentations trainings school events and outreach on dating/domestic violence and sexual violence prevention education.
- Work with community partners to coordinate and conduct prevention education.
- Maintain effective working relationships with community partners.
- Maintain a high degree of reliability and professionalism.
- Assist in the development of resources and materials related to District 4 programming.
Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Act as an ambassador for WEAVE in the community; delivering education and training with the highest levels of subject matter expertise and skill.
- Foster build and maintain relationships with community organizations schools and other stakeholders.
- Conduct and participate in outreach and tabling events to raise awareness about WEAVEs services and resources.
- Provide information and referrals for supportive services to community members who have been impacted by domestic violence sexual and/or sex trafficking.
Other Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal teams external agencies and community partners to coordinate activities and referrals for services as needed.
- Attend staff meetings training sessions and oneonone meetings with supervisors to ensure successful completion of project goals and to enhance skills knowledge and awareness of domestic violence issues and case management best practices.
- Promote a culture of respect equality and diversity within WEAVE and to the community.
- Consistent with agency and program requirements maintain accurate timely and confidential records of services provided.
- Adhere to all agency and department policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in social work psychology or a related field is strongly preferred; significant relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of this qualification.
- Professional experience working with domestic violence and sexual programs preferred.
- Prior public speaking and/or presentation experience.
- Knowledge of prevention education strategies and domestic violence sexual and sex trafficking.
- Experience working with unserved and underserved communities.
- Demonstrated commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive work and learning environment.
- Ability to work with school staff community groups faith groups children/teens/adults in a professional manner.
- Knowledge of anddemonstratedcommitment to the WEAVE mission and values.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and high degree of professionalism.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to multitask.
- Ability and flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends to facilitate presentations and attend outreach events.
- Complete WEAVEs 69hour peer counselor training program and pass background check (posthiring requirement).
- Annual c of WEAVEs continuing education requirements tomaintainPeer Counselor certification.
- Valid California Drivers license and reliable transportation including vehicle insurance.

Work environment is primarily a busy office setting in a twostory building with stairs and an elevator or in various community settings to deliver training/presentations. Local travel (driving) will be required to conduct meetings and other activities at various area locations. Employees may need to move around and between floors occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 lbs. or reach items above their head below their waist or stored in/on drawers and shelves. Employees may also need to remain in one position (i.e. sitting or standing) for an extended period while completing work tasks. Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent write reports take notes; utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators and utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines.
