Job Description

This position is for the full academic year open only to enrolled upperclassmen.


Expected hours of work per week: 520

Work Location & Hours: Carter Hall Basement; 8ammidnight

Qualifications for Position:

  • Must have a drivers license and be approved as a driver by the college
  • Honesty integrity and ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential matter
  • Maintain professional appearance
  • Must be able to work outside of class and NCAA athletics during the workweek and as needed nights and weekends
  • Organization and communication skills
  • Ability to relate to customers in a cooperative and supportive manner in contentious situations
  • Ability to research interpret and clearly relate needed information to customers with clear expectations as needed
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be able to work productively and diligently both alone (selfmotivated) and positively in a team environment
  • Proficient in office and mobile applications
  • Experience working with computers and technical material
  • Willing to learn new programs and applications with speed and accuracy
  • Capable of using hand and power tools
  • Capable of planning activities based on assigned tasks
  • Ability to be flexible with changing tasks while maintaining and communicating other task deadlines and priorities
  • Must be able to work as needed outside of class and NCAA athletics primarily from 9pm 2am
  • Able to work last night before campus breaks and first night back from breaks
  • Possess organization and communication skills
  • Ability to relate to customers in a cooperative and supportive manner in contentious situations
  • Ability to research interpret and clearly relate needed information to customers or other contacts
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy

Expected Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with and assist the department manager and director with assigned tasks
  • Observe and report campus and office needs or deficiencies campus safety issues and other related problems through the work request system and other office reporting systems
  • Responsible for following instructions and seeking clarification when needed
  • Adhering to all safety practices and training
  • Responsible for key requests permit issuance and the checking in and out keys and permits through the various databases folders and clipboards
  • Organize maintain and update office records (not limited to: key records parking records holds and other safety binders and data)
  • Assist customers with the education of office services information and deadlines in a friendly way
  • Assist with WorkRequests and FURFs
  • Issue Citations accurately without bias
  • Provide assistance with computerrelated tasks
    • not limited to: reports filing research and data entry
  • Provide both secretarial and technical customer service
    • not limited to: resolving key or parking issues and related technical troubleshooting and resolution
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
    • Assisting ScotsCard workers with but not limited to the following:
      • Checking cards in and out through the clipboard
      • Issue and replace student IDs
      • Maintaining Card Access records

Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed

  • Career and Self Development: Participate in further education and training including the Tennessee Unarmed Security Guard Course and other selected training opportunities.
  • Establish relationships with Facilities and Athletic Department ScotsWork students to leverage manpower.
  • Communicate effectively with all Covenant community members and others seeking assistance from our department.
  • Global Literacy: Anticipate the challenges and navigate obstacles regarding communicating with new members of the Covenant family from other cultures.
  • Critical Thinking skills when making decisions regarding the operation of vehicles in inclement weather.
  • Leadership: Anticipate the needs of the campus during emergent situations. Lead fellow students during moments of crisis on campus including weather watch warnings and fire alarms.
  • Teamwork: Prioritize work. Be prepared to work. Model professionalism by reporting for work on time and appropriately dressed. If you dont show up for work someone will have to work in your absence. Work as part of our campus security team comprising full and parttime employees and student workers.
