Job Description

RLead Plant Operator Technician (Fill Date: 03/01/2025

Location:

Hanford CA (ASP) Ammonia production & filling

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW

The Lead Plant Technician Operator is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the Airgas Specialty Products plant. This role includes managing plant equipment supervising junior technicians ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant and adhering to safety and environmental regulations. The Lead Operator works closely with other departments to ensure production goals are met while maintaining high safety standards.

Pay: $30.60

Key Responsibilities:

Plant Operations:

Operate monitor and maintain various systems such as compressors pumps valves and related equipment.

Ensure that plant equipment operates efficiently and within specified parameters.

Conduct routine inspections troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on plant equipment.

Identify and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.

Bulk cargo tank loading/unloading/evacuation (anhydrous ammonia/ammonium hydroxide).

Plant maintenance for all aspects of the facility.

Truck and trailer maintenance including pump rebuilds and all other process pieces.

Cold Flo sampling (anhydrous ammonia).

Production and testing (ammonium hydroxide).

Daily inventory/monitoring of products.

Data recording/interpreting.

Good housekeeping.

Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed.

Complete plant inspections and hose inspections.



Leadership & Supervision:

Provide guidance training and support to other plant technicians.

Coordinate with the Plant Manager or Operations Supervisor to assign daily tasks to the team.

Ensure compliance with company policies and safety protocols.

Safety & Compliance:

Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety health and environmental regulations.

Ensure proper handling storage and disposal of hazardous materials including anhydrous ammonia and other specialty gases.

Respond to emergencies and plantrelated incidents by initiating corrective actions.

Process Improvement:

Analyze plant processes and workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.

Collaborate with engineers and other technical teams to implement process upgrades.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of equipment performance maintenance activities and any operational issues.

Prepare and submit daily production maintenance and safety reports to management.

Inventory & Supply Management:

Monitor plant inventory levels and coordinate with procurement teams to ensure adequate stock of required materials.

Manage and maintain the storage and inventory of specialty gases and other plant supplies.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in process technology or a related field is preferred.

Experience: 35 years of experience in plant operations preferably in the chemical or gas industry. Prior supervisory experience is a plus.

Technical Skills:

Knowledge of process control mechanical systems and plant operations.

Proficiency with industrial equipment safety protocols and environmental regulations.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects work in confined spaces and stand for long periods. Willingness to work in a hazardous environment with personal protective equipment (PPE).
