HIRING RANGE: Hiring Rate Per Contact Hour: Fall 2024 to Summer 2025: $1005.00 if candidate holds a Bachelors or Masters degree and $1056.00 if candidate holds a Ph.D. Ed.D or J.D.
Hiring Rate Per Contact Hour: Fall 2025 to Summer 2026: $1030.00 if candidate holds a Bachelors or Masters degree and $1082.00 if candidate holds a Ph.D. Ed.D or J.D.

POSITION SUMMARY
Requires practical application of fire service education fire rescue procedure development and administration. An adjunct community college instructor is an instructor hired for one semester to teach one or more courses for which he/she is qualified to teach. The adjunct instructor reports to the appropriate Instructional Coordinator and/or Department Chair; provides quality instruction for the assigned courses. The instructor works with fulltime faculty in assessing students and following all course guidelines. Willingness to teach at other campus sites is required. Adjunct instructors may submit preferences for locations and loads. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College adjunct faculty contract.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
introductory and advanced classes in Fire Science Homeland Security Emergency Management.
develop coordinate and upgrade curriculum and teaching materials required by state and federal regulations for fire programs.
closely with other faculty special programs and services within the college to determine placement curriculum National Fire Academy FESHE certifications Office of the State Fire Marshal certifications and support academic staff.
in appropriate department meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees as needed.
with departmental curriculum grading standards attendance policies textbook choices and assessments and other established processes.
classes regularly; return college reports credentials and other requested documentation in a timely manner; effectively communicate with appropriate staff and chair.
with all legal and ethical obligations including FERPA ADA and other regulatory legislations. Communicate discrepancies to appropriate officials.
to furthering the mission goals and core values of the college at all times.
other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College adjunct faculty contract.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
degree in Fire Science or EMS with seven years field experience in fire/EMS; or Bachelors degree in any subject matter with seven years field experience in fire/EMS; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
BOF/FFII (plus other OSFM certifications for specific courses as assigned).
Instructor I certification; or equivalent certification and teaching experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

degree in Fire Science or related field
Instructor II certification
or previous IDPH EMS licensure (EMT or paramedic)
community college and/or fire service teaching experience
Fire Officer I Certification
and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.

fire service activities and must be able to lift 35 pounds
