GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The Food Truck Intern will perform and train in various responsibilities of the food service operation. Will work directly with food service management and ROTEC administrators in the development and operation of a food truck enterprise. This position will report to the Director of Food and Nutrition.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Roanoke City Public Schools is an urban school division serving a k12 student population of 13800 in 17 elementary schools 5 middle schools 2 senior high schools Forest Park Academy Noel C Taylor Learning Academy and Roanoke Valley Governors School. A staff of 2100 is employed in the division.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
This position is open to current RCPS high school students in good standing only. Food service or culinary experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:Requires close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus with or without corrective lenses. Significant walking or other means of mobility. Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Ability to reach bend stoop push and/or pull and frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.
Data Conception:Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data people or things.
Interpersonal Communication:Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions assignments or directions to assistants.
Language Ability:Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence reports forms newsletters schedules manuals invoices requisitions menus recipes journals etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence reports forms evaluations procedures charts surveys articles bid specifications brochures news releases handbooks budgets etc. using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation grammar diction and style. May require the ability to speak before groups of people with poise voice control and confidence.
Intelligence:Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of; and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Verbal Aptitude:Requires the ability to record and deliver information to explain procedures to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently.
Numerical Aptitude:Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages; and to apply the principles of algebra and geometry.
Form/Spatial Aptitude:Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length width and shape.
Motor Coordination:Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using office equipment.
Manual Dexterity:Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as office equipment and hand tools. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Color Discrimination:Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.
Interpersonal Temperament:Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
Physical Communication:Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear. Must be able to communicate via telephone.
Working Conditions (may add additional conditions specific to defined work location):
Generally in an indoor setting; however may supervise outside activities and events. Varying schedule to include evenings holidays weekends and extended hours as business dictates. While performing the duties of this job the employee is primarily in a controlled temperate environment; however may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
