Job Description
Overview: The ETL Engineer plays a vital role in the organizations data management strategy by designing developing and maintaining robust ETL processes. These processes are crucial for transforming raw data into a usable format for analysis ensuring data integrity and optimizing data delivery systems. An ETL Engineer collaborates with data architects analysts and business stakeholders to identify data needs and design solutions that align with business objectives. By implementing best practices in data extraction transformation and loading the ETL Engineer helps to unlock valuable insights from data supporting decisionmaking processes across the organization. This position requires a blend of technical expertise problemsolving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure that data systems are efficient scalable and reliable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop ETL processes for data ingestion and transformation.
- Collaborate with data architects to define data integration strategies.
- Extract data from various sources including databases APIs and flat files.
- Transform data to meet business requirements using data processing techniques.
- Load transformed data into target data warehouses ensuring data integrity.
- Optimize ETL processes for performance and efficiency.
- Implement and monitor data quality checks and validation processes.
- Document ETL processes workflows and data mappings for future reference.
- Participate in data model design and schema development.
- Work with analytics teams to understand data usage and reporting needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data extraction and transformation.
- Maintain version control for ETL workflows and documentation.
- Stay updated with the latest ETL tools and best practices.
- Provide support during data migration and system upgrade projects.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in ETL development and data engineering.
- Proficient in SQL and experience with relational databases.
- Handson experience with ETL tools such as Informatica Talend or Microsoft SSIS.
- Strong programming skills in Python or Java.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark is a plus.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure Google Cloud) and their data services.
- Understanding of data governance practices and data security measures.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization in data processes.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt in a fastpaced environment.
