Job Description
Requirements
- Case Management:Organizing and managing all aspects of a medical malpractice case including setting up files maintaining case calendars and managing deadlines.
- Document Preparation:Drafting legal documents like pleadings motions and discovery requests.
- Client Communication:Communicating with clients and attorneys regarding case updates and progress.
- Medical Record Review:Reviewing and summarizing medical records identifying key information and potential weaknesses in the case.
- Legal Research:Conducting legal research to support the case including researching case law statutes and regulations.
- Discovery Compliance:Assisting with the discovery process including drafting interrogatories preparing requests for production and responding to discovery requests.
- Trial Preparation:Assisting with trial preparation including organizing exhibits preparing witness statements and coordinating with expert witnesses.
- Education:An Associate degree or a Paralegal Studies Certificate from an ABAapproved law school is a PLUS.
- Experience:Experience in medical malpractice or insurance defense is a MUST.
- Skills:Excellent organizational skills strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in using legal research tools like Westlaw and LexisNexis and familiarity with legal software.
