Job Description

Position Purpose: 

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Environmental Science/Engineering Intern to join our team under Veolias SEED program. This role is ideal for seniorlevel or recently graduated undergraduate or graduate students pursuing degrees in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or related fields with a strong focus on sustainability and water resource management.

The successful candidate will work on projects from initiation to completion gaining valuable experience in environmental and water systems management and sustainability practices. This internship offers visibility across various functional groups including environmental science engineering operations and maintenance teams. Additionally this internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain handson experience in the fields of environmental science water resource management and sustainability while contributing to meaningful projects that address pressing environmental challenges. The Tampa summer internship opportunity is focused on construction management for a water treatment plant expansion project 120 MGD to 145 MGD) primarily involving preconstruction activities.  Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2025.  Assignments may include engineering drawing reviews report preparation schedule review review and tracking of design submittals scheduling of activities organization of meetings attending various meetings installation inspections safety related activities entry of data into construction management software and other miscellaneous assignments to support senior staff.

The Student Exploration and Experience Development (SEED) program is a 12week internship opportunity at Veolia for students to gain handson experience in sustainability and ecological transformation. They will work on realworld projects receive mentorship from industry professionals and participate in workshops and networking events. The program aims to nurture talent promote innovation and foster meaningful connections between students and industry professionals. Overall the SEED program provides students with the skills knowledge and connections needed to make a positive impact in the industry. Program Dates: June 2 2025 to August 22 2025.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in developing and implementing sustainable water management solutions.
  • Assist in the evaluation and optimization of water treatment processes.
  • Contribute to water quality monitoring and improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with laboratory analysis and environmental field sampling.
  • Contribute to environmental impact assessments and sustainability reports.
  • Support climate change research and adaptation projects.
  • Assist with GHG emissions accounting and reduction strategies.
  • Participate in data collection analysis and reporting related to environmental monitoring and compliance.
  • Collaborate on process improvement projects focused on reducing carbon footprint and enhancing energy efficiency at a surface water treatment plant.
  • Work with operations teams assisting in the development of financial reports in support of monthly closing activities aligned to international regional legal entity and business line reporting.

Work Environment:

  • Environments vary by internship function from office field to the plant.
  • Our aim is to provide a tangible industry job experience to each intern.
  • While we may extend offers to some interns there is no guarantee of a job offer at the end of the internship.

Qualifications :

Education/Experience/Background: 

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • A passionate commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.
  • Strong academic background in environmental management sustainability and climate science.
  • Demonstrated interest in water and wastewater treatment renewable energy and climate change mitigation.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Experience in a laboratory setting or with collecting environmental field samples is a plus.
  • Knowledge of energy management principles particularly in the water and wastewater sectors.
  • Familiarity with GHG emissions accounting methodologies.
  • Understanding of ecosystem management principles and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of water quality parameters and water treatment processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and data analysis techniques.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

  • Certification/Licenses/Training is not generally required for an internship.
