Job Description

Position Details

The City of Auburns Public Works & Parks Maintenance divisions are establishing an eligible list for Maintenance Worker I which will be used to fill future vacancies.There are no immediate vacancies.This job announcement is open continuously and will generate an eligibility list to fill future vacancies throughout 2025.

Note:If you have applied and did not pass the Mechanical Aptitude Test within the last six months there is no need to reapply as applicants can only retest after that timeframe. If you have already taken and passed the mechanical aptitude test (within the last 6 months) and are currently on the eligibility list you do not need to reapply. Each eligibility list remains valid for up to six months.

Salary scale shown is minimum pay rate prior to the 2 CDL premium and the maximum pay rate including premium pay and highest longevity pay applicable only after 20 years of service.
The staff hired into this position will be brought in atStep 1of the 6step scale which is $5097.98 month $29.41/hour).

This position is represented by Teamsters Local Union No. 117 and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement is effective 1/1/23 12/31/25.

Selection Process
Interested individuals should

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to take aninperson assessment test (Mechanical Aptitude Test 1.5 hours). Applicants must receive a passing score to beplaced on the eligibility list for a screening interviewwith hiring managers.Applicants with a passing score may be invited to aformal interview and practical testingwhen there are open vacancies. The eligibility listestablished for thisposition is generally good for6 months.

Testing
Our next round of mechanical aptitude
testing will take place on April 18 21 28 & 30th. As additional testing dates are scheduled this posting will be updated.

Primary Duties

Employees are expected toperform all of the duties of the Maintenance Worker Iclass as assigned. The list below is not meant to be all inclusive and the full job description can be viewedhere. Staff will have more detailed descriptions for each of the divisions to review when attending the mechanical aptitude test.

Minimum Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have:

For CDL eligible positions: you must obtain aClass A CDL and tanker endorsementwithin one 1 year of employment as a condition of continued employment.

*If necessary for assigned work an employee will be required to obtain and maintain a Public Pesticide Operators license DSHS Water Supply Certification First Aid Certification Flagging Certification Forklift Certification and/or Defensive Driving Certification or other required certification or license.
