What Youll Do
As a Lifeguard youll play a key role in ensuring a safe fun and inclusive swimming environment for campers and staff. Your responsibilities include:
- Ensuring water safety for all campers and staff.
- Enforcing pool and waterfront rules to prevent accidents.
- Supervising swimmers and assessing skill levels.
- Performing rescues & administering First Aid/CPR in emergencies.
- Engaging with campers to build confidence in the water.
- Inspecting and maintaining aquatic areas & safety equipment.
- Communicating with staff and parents about water safety and camper progress.
- Support all program areas as needed you will be floating in several programs for the whole summer.
- Supporting teambuilding challenges and outdoor adventures.
- Manage groups with enthusiasm patience and creativity.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Certified Lifeguard Current American Red Cross YMCA Ellis & Associates or equivalent certification.
- CPR/AED & First Aid Certified Must have uptodate credentials.
- Experienced Prior lifeguard experience preferred.
- Strong swimmer Must pass a swim test demonstrating rescue skills.
- Alert & Attentive Strong observational skills and ability to stay focused for long periods.
- Great with kids Experience working with children is a plus!
- Adaptable & Calm Under Pressure Can handle emergencies and maintain a positive encouraging atmosphere.
Schedule and Requirements
- JuneAugust (exact dates vary by location)
- MondayFriday 3640 hours per week
- Must be fully vaccinated and up to date on all immunizations.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs respond quickly to emergencies and work in an active outdoor environment.
- First Aid & CPR certification required (training reimbursement provided).
