The Education Program Consultant (ESSA)will be an integral member of the School Improvement Bureau providing onsite support to ESSA identified Comprehensive schools.
Your Responsibilities:
Support school improvement visits to comprehensive schools 35 newly identified schools will need to be served by the Departments ESSA team). Job duties include: assembling visitation teams analyzing data communicating with comprehensive schools conducting virtual and onsite visits identifying areas for improvement and providing schools with technical assistance as they implement recommendations and plan for improvement. Support the management and monitoring of the school improvement plans for the comprehensive school; facilitating meetings for professional learning and problem solving informing the agendas of meetings with the ESSA regional team and coordinating collaboration with consultants across the division to support the comprehensive schools. Create reports analyses and presentations based on school visits and evaluation of programming of schools and/or districts.
Participate in comprehensive efforts of the Department and Bureau including Department Division and Bureau meetings and other assigned work groups.

Hours:8:00 A.M. 4:30 P.M. Monday Friday some nights and weekends regular instate and occasional outofstate travel
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
1 Graduation from an accredited fouryear college or university and five years of fulltime postgraduate work experience in any one or a combination of the following areas:
a. Professional training teaching or counseling experience in an educational setting;
b. Professional administrative experience in an educational setting;
c. Professional personnel administration including such areas as job analysis performance appraisal systems selection devices or labor relations;
d. Professional finance accounting or auditing experience including the preparation or analysis of financial statements;
e. Professional experience in a major technical program area utilized by the Iowa Department of Education or Board of Educational Examiners.
2 A combination of a total of five years of postgraduate education and fulltime experience (as described in number one) where twentyfour semester hours of accredited postgraduate college or university course work equals one year of fulltime experience.
3 Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masters degree possession of a valid Iowa Teaching Certificate and three academic years of teaching and/or administrative experience in PK12 and/or a postsecondary educational institution.
4 Possession of a School Business Official Authorization from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners and seven years of fulltime professional experience in finance accounting or auditing including the preparation or analysis of financial statements.
