Job Description

Overview

This position supports the work of the Y a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development healthy living and social responsibility. The Manager on Duty at The YMCA of Greater Monmouth County intentionally fosters a causecentered culture that is welcoming genuine hopeful nurturing and determined. Under the direct supervision of the Membership Director the Manager on Duty is responsible for the security and safety of members participants and staff as well as the general supervision of facility operations in the absence of all other directors/coordinators being in the building.

Responsibilities

  • Must always be on time and ready for your scheduled shift which includes but is not limited to adhering to the established branch and department dress code.
  • Demonstrate YMCA core character values of honesty respect responsibility and caring in all interactions with employees members staff and others; commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Performs essential functions of front desk associate and/or fitness floor associate.
  • Regularly moves throughout the facility for random and regular facility inspections interact with members/guests and supervise programs and staff.
  • In the absence of director/coordinator handles staff and/or program issues according to YMCA policies and procedures. Follows up with appropriate director/coordinator afterwards.
  • Reports any emergencies to the Membership Director immediately.
  • Completes the Manager on Duty checklist and writes up incident reports as needed.
  • Interacts with participants and parents in a positive manner that reflects a family friendly YMCA.
  • Exercise sound judgment in relationship to member safety & all emergency procedures
  • Visually inspect work area and equipment for safety and risk report to supervisor in writing any problems. Responsible for filling out accident/incident reports and getting these reports to their program supervisor or Executive Director. Additionally immediately report any unsafe or suspicious activity directly to Executive Director.
  • Embrace and adhere to service excellence standards; provide outstanding service to your customers and constituents.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth. Complete required abuse risk management training. Follow mandated abuse reporting procedures including reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older preferred
  • High school education/GED equivalent
  • Ability to communicate with diverse populations
  • Ability to make quick sound decisions
  • First Aid CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire date
  • The YMCA of Greater Monmouth County New Team Member Orientation
  • YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Online Training
  • Blood borne Pathogen Online Training
  • Notify Wellness Director within 60 days before First Aid CPR/AED expiration date. The YMCA provides First Aid CPR/AED recertification classes.
