JOB TITLE: Baby University Lead Caregiver
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

PAY GRADE: Paraprofessional 35 193 Days)

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The IISD Baby University Lead Caregiver is responsible for providing a safe and positive developmentally appropriate child care program for children of Irving ISD employees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must pass a background check
- Two 2 years experience working with children in a preschool or child care setting preferred.
Education/Certification:
Per the Texas Department of Health and Human Services (TDHHS) new employees of a licensed childcare center with less than 2 years experience must:
- Obtain 24 hours of preservice training
- Obtain 24 hours of annual training
- Have high school diploma high school equivalent or high school certificate of coursework completion as defined in Texas Education Code 28.025(d)
- Acquire and maintain current pediatric CPR First Aid and Food Handlers certificates
- Acquire a valid Texas Education Aide Certificate Child Development Associates (CDA) or an Associates Degree in Early Childhood
All required ChildCare Regulations training will be provided by IISD.
Special Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of TDHHS ChildCare Regulation minimum standards for childcare centers
- Knowledge of developmental milestones of young children
- Reports to work on time is reliable for regular work and maintains good attendance.
- Ability to work flexible hours and demonstrate a positive attitude
- Display good communication skills and ability to receive and follow directions
- Strong organizational time management interpersonal skills and enjoy being around children
- Ability to supervise/manage aides in the classroom in an effective manner
- Ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Ability to work well with others including children parents and coworkers
- Maintains confidentiality
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Plan and implement activities to meet the physical emotional intellectual and social needs of the children in the program.
- Serve nutritious snacks and lunches as directed by the Child Care Director and IISD Food Services.
- Ensure all equipment and activities are safe and appropriate.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are clean well maintained and present a safe environment at all times.
- Plan the daily schedule and lesson plans for assigned classrooms and make sure they are age appropriate for the classroom.
- Implementation of the daily plan and lesson plans for each child in the classroom.
- Ensure all assigned children are supervised at all times
- Provide a variety of appropriate experiences and activities for children including songs games and storytelling
- Provide and supervise opportunities for sleep and rest time as directed
- Enhance and support the selfesteem of all students in the learning center
- Establish and maintain an orderly environment through routines and positive guidance.
- Provide a safe comfortable and secure environment for children.
- Implement established positive and appropriate discipline as required.
- Clearly positively and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.
- Keep the director informed of any special needs or concerns of individual children.
- Report suspected child abuse and neglect to the appropriate administrator and law enforcement agencies according to guidelines in the Texas Family Code
- Collaborate in the planning and implementation of activities and assigned curriculum.
- Keep parents informed of ongoing program expectations program activities and their childs progress.
- Develop and maintain current accurate and confidential client files.
- Participate in inservice training staff meetings and special events as required.
- Maintain an accurate knowledge base and comply with federal state and school district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
- Maintain health and safety standards in the classroom.
- Clean and disinfect toys and classrooms.
- Ensure that all furniture is safe and cleaning products and medicines are kept in a safe place away from children.
- Maintain each childs attendance academic and behavioral records.
- Be available to speak to parents about a childs progress and challenges throughout the year.
- Provide professional communication with students parents community members staff and other professionals at all times.
- Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact facial expressions voice inflections body language and an attitude of going the extra mile for others.
- Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate time frame.
- Create and maintain a welcoming serviceoriented environment toward all internal and external customers.
- Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.
Clerical:
- Maintains a developmental profile folder for individual classroom students.
- Assists with records of individual students and keeps anecdotal notes as needed.
- Compiles maintains and files instructional materials.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling may be required. May be required to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.
